Oxshott Schools published by Manser 72dpi This battered postcard gives us a view of the Schools in the 1920's. It is unused and shows a large group of children outside. It does also have some local history information on the reverse, in that it was published by A.J. Manser, The Post Office Stores, Oxshott.
Oxshott Woods Black Pond

This card has been posted from Cobham on 9th March 1913 to Liverpool and mentions Brooklands. It shows Black Pond in Oxshott Woods.

"We have been here for a week, return to NB at cockcrow tomorrow 10th...We motored to Brooklands yesterday hoping to see some flying! But it was too gusty! However, we saw some motor racing! This is such a pretty place, lots of daffodils and almond trees, lovely - think of us tomorrow, 12 hours!! Best love to all - Winifred."

Oxshott Bear Hill The Bear 72dpi

The original Bear Public House is shown on this postcard standing alongside the road called Bear Hill at this point. The card is posted from Leatherhead on 18th June 1905 to Battersea.

Posted from Esher on 10th July 1907 to Paris. There is a receiving postmark at Garches in Paris on the back dated 12th July.

The card is written in French and shows Warren Lane. Fortunately the writer Leon has written his address on the front. "Villa Queensmead, Claygate, Surrey."

Oxshott The Bridge 16/07/1912

Posted to Miss G. Whitmore in West Lowestoft on 16th July 1912 from Kingston-on-Thames.

"Dear Glad and Jack This is where we have so jolly picnics sometimes. I went to a Garden Party last evening. Violet was waiting tables on the lawn. Have you had the Vicarage one yet? Much love Maude"

Scovell of Oxshott published several cards. This is one of their cards of the Tea Rooms.

"Dear Winnie I thought you would be interested to know that you have another cousin: her name is 'Molly'. She arrived here yesterday afternoon. Both she and her mother are getting on nicely. Mother and Maggie are at Eastbourne. Love from Bob"

Oxshott The Schools 13/01/1904

Posted in Leatherhead on 13/01/1904 to Mrs Arthur of 26 Mathew's Terrace Claygate. The Schools were situated approximately where the petrol station is today.

"Sorry I could not come last week, and yesterday (Hope it will be convenient tomorrow Thursday 6-30), I will explain then. Yours truly"

and a signature which appears to be A. Stoton or similar.
